A recording of the service is available below

Alma Manke, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021 at the age of 97 years. She was predeceased by parents Sidona and Assaf Reschke; husband William Manke; daughter Dianne Fenske; brother Ron Reschke; sisters Erna Reschke, Hilda Demke, Ella Hicks, and Selma Bach. Alma is survived by her grandchildren Corrine Breitkreuz (Darren) and Sharese Cyr (Ryan); and great grandchildren Kayley Breitkreuz, Amerah Cyr, and Brandon Cyr; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Alma was born in Koristin Russia. She and her family came to Canada when she was a young child. Her family settled in Esk, Saskatchewan where she grew up on a farm. She married William Manke and together they farmed. They had one daughter Dianne Carol. Alma worked at the egg candling station and often took in hemming. She helped out in many ways on the farm including picking rocks and selling eggs. They later moved to Saskatoon so Dianne could attend school in the city. Dianne married Harold Fenske and they had two daughters Sharese and Corrine. Alma enjoyed teaching her daughter and granddaughters to garden, fish, sew, and bake. Alma was happy to add two grandsons in law, Darren Breitkreuz and Ryan Cyr as well as three great grandchildren to her family: Brandon Cyr, Amerah Cyr, and Kayley Breitkreuz.

She loved carpet bowling, softball, quilting, gardening, and canning. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, and playing games with her friends and family. She always had to have her hair colored, cut, and curled. Alma had a deep love for her family and always remembered a card and gift for every special occasion. Alma brought so much joy to those around her and had the best sense of humor. She always had fresh pot of coffee on as well as some fresh baking ready for any guests. Her smile lit up a room right until her final days where she spent her last few weeks peacefully at Corrine and Darren's home. Alma was very compassionate and caring and always had the best outlook on things. She faced many challenges throughout her life, but maintained a close relationship with God, trusting in him with all aspects of her and her family’s lives. She was truly a beautiful soul both inside and out and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the homecare staff and the Palliative Care team that supported her and the family over the last few months. In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting donations toward an item or items to be purchased for the Palliative Care Team to be available for palliative home care clients.  Please contact family for details.
