We missed Phil's service... unfortunately. Mom let us know about it, but we had a commitment we couldn't get out of. I would love to view it somewhere... perhaps on this site.
Our heartfelt love go to you all. We have fond memories of Phil in WInnipeg during our 3 years in Dauphin. I guess it is those years where we felt we got to know Phil the best. We would pop in once in a while. He loved life... saw humor in things, always had a smile or something funny or upbeat to add to the conversation.
No doubt he will be missed. So wonderful you all can be surrounded by your lovely family during these times.
Hugs to you all! Love Orlyn & Lori

Our dear Grace, Ruthie, MaryJayne and all the rest that loved & leaned on Phil ... he's been a part of so many lives for so long, not because he "intruded" but because he (and Grace) cared & shared so generously. Their home was a haven from our earliest days in MB in 1971 & we give thanks for what they have meant to the Kingdom. This comes with so much love - Sally Alexander

Sweet release for Phil, a true soldier.
A big hug to you, Grace, Ruth, Mary Jayne and family! I have nothing but fond memories of Phil. From showing us kids his trains in the basement, to playing us a diddy on his accordion and more recently, a very special lunch visit while I was in culinary school that I will never forget. His love, enthusiasm and selflessness towards others was and is infectious. He will be missed.

Saturday, February 20, 2021
Phil and Grace were the first to welcome my wife Marian and me when we moved from Jamaica to Winnipeg in June 1999 and have been like family to us ever since. We enjoyed many meals at their Davidson Rd home in St. Andrews.
Phil and I got storm-stayed on Lake Winnipeg one day when we took the float plane for a flight. Ended up having the plane pushed into a creek by a bunch of lifeguards, and booking in to a hotel for the night at half price! Lots of lovely memories...thanks for everything, and we're thinking of you all as you go through this sad time.
Love,
Philip and Marian Newman

Thinking of all the Howard families.
Loss is one of the hardest things to go through as human ties are broken. We never expect things to change or be different, but we can all be grateful Phillip’s life was well lived.
Even now, we realize how one life has touched so many. I will cherish fond memories. May you all have the strength you need in these days of adjustment. There are many prayers for you all drawing from the same source of power that kept Philip during his days here. Hugs

Our condolences to to the Howard family.
I have known Phillip for many years through the printing trade. Most recently though, in the past 10 years as a bus driver with Lord Selkirk School Division.
Philip always had time to chat and wonder how things were with those he worked with. A caring and well respected person. He will be remembered.

Our sincere condolences to Phillips family. I knew Phillip for only a few short years in Selkirk driving school bus. After we finished our pre trip it was time for a few of us to gather for a coffee and a little socializing before we began our routes. Phillip was always at the centre of this. I remember him as a purely genuine person who gave freely of himself and someone who deeply loved his family. I remember Philip as a deeply spiritual man.. it was a pleasure to know him. He was respected by all.

I want to add my loving care to the family. We all share in the great loss of our dear Philip, but we know it is far better for him now. Their home was a haven of rest to the homeless ministry going out as Jesus sent two and two. In my 18 years in MB and NW Ontario area. Their home was often our haven.
When we had missions in the Lake Winnipeg area the family stood by us. Phil played the homemade portable organ we had and led the singing. They drove for miles to help us in every way possible. The family provided a cabin there for us to batch in.
Now, our part is to be faithful as Philip was so we can have eternity together. My condolences and deepest love to all the family.
