We are saddened to announce the passing of Joyce Jannette Colenutt on the evening of Friday, February 19^th, 2021, at home in the presence of her family. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Maggie Liberet; and her brother Ed Liberet. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack Colenutt, as well as her three children: Kevin (Sue Monk) and grandchildren Ryan and Karyn from Ottawa, Ontario; Lauren Petrovitch (Darcy Holt) and grandchildren Sarah (Shane Czako) and great grandchild Sienna, and Lexie (Cody Hart) and great grandchild Theo from Regina; and Christine Lewis (Owen) and grandchild Carter from Regina. Joyce is also survived by her extended family, sisters-in-law Pat Liberet (nieces and nephew, Randy, Kelly, Diana), and Sheila Colenutt (nephews and niece, Chris, Geraldine, and Geoff). Her father and mother immigrated to Canada from Poland and the Ukraine respectively in 1929, met and made a life together in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  Joyce was the second born, on June 26, 1938, and went to school at Westmount public school while also taking piano lessons, tap and Ukrainian dancing lessons performing in public with her dance troupe.  She graduated from Central Collegiate, at the age of 16, and enrolled in the Lab Technician Program at Providence Hospital, Moose Jaw, graduating at the age of 18. Joyce met her future husband Jack while both were at Central Collegiate. She moved to Kamloops, B.C. where she worked at the Royal Inland Hospital and to be close to Jack where he was stationed as an RCMP officer.  Joyce and Jack were married on Valentines Day in 1959, resided in Calgary, AB then moved to Leader, Saskatchewan, and finally settled in Regina in 1962. After 21 years of raising her children, she went to work for the Provincial Government as a secretary for the director of MCIC, Department of Health and retired at the age of 65. Joyce enjoyed oil and water-colour painting and spending time in her yard and at the cottage at Wee-Too Beach, where she was a meticulous weeder, spending hours tending the vegetable garden and flowers.  She took pride in everything she did including sewing, playing classical piano, baking, cooking, and playing cards with her family.  Joyce always exemplified elegance and style in her manner and dress, and kept harmony with all through a quiet but resolute demeanor.  She was proud of her children and truly enjoyed being at home, always putting her family first even as she battled cancer for over 15 years.  We loved her wit and dry sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the amazing support provided by the entire Pasqua Palliative and Home Care Palliative teams. Thank you for making it possible to care for Mom at home.  Your support meant so much to us. At Joyce’s request, there will be no memorial service.  To celebrate her life, a family gathering will be planned for this summer.  In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family would greatly appreciate contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or the Allan Blair Cancer clinic, located in Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
