Dear John and Anita, I am so sorry for your loss and send my condolences. I apologize, but I was just doing a google search of some old friends back home as I was planning a trip to Regina and was hoping to look some up. I did a search for John Reisinger and came accross his father’s obituary, I am so sorry for your loss. One of my strongest memories of my teen years was of Hans, and I credit him with keeping me on the straight and narrow when things could have gone sideways for me. I had a bit of a tough childhood at home and after one really tough day back during high school, I decided to run away. After telling two friends in high school, John and Kevin, John insisted I come home with him, he explained what was going on to his parents and then we went to McDonald’s for something to eat. We got back home to John’s house and his Dad had called my mom, had a chat and decided that I was going home not really knowing how tough things were. John and Hans insisted on driving me home and when we pulled out in front of my moms house, I was literally planning on walking through the yard to the alley and keep on going, when Hans turned to me in the back seat and very firmly said, Make sure you go inside and don’t keep walking through the yard to the alley. I nearly crapped myself. I went inside, things were okay for a couple weeks, then eventually moved out in about a month, but I wasn’t on the street and in the long run, things have turned out pretty well for me. I am married, been with my partner for about 26 years, have a nice home, but always wanted to make it back to Regina and say thank you to Hans. He was tough, clear and and good parent. I was lucky to know him through John. I hope you and your sister are okay. All my best. Barry Hayes
