Obituary of Margaret Anne Willimott

With great sadness we announce the death of Marnie (Margaret) Willimott. Marnie died peacefully at home, with husband Mike by her side. Marnie, a proud Cathedral neighbourhood girl at heart, attended Holy Rosary School, Miller High, and the University of Regina. As a young teen, she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Marnie dealt bravely with the many challenges and complications from the disease, and did not let it stop her from living a full and happy life. She worked for many years as a clerk at Medical Services Branch. She and Mike were teenage sweethearts, and married in 1982. Their pride and joy, Sean, was born in 1985. Marnie loved being a mom, and spent many hours volunteering at Sean’s school. In later years, she volunteered as a hospital chaplain. She had numerous passions, including the Riders, curling, dogs, travelling, family parties, and going out for coffee! Marnie was a devoted and generous daughter to her own mother, Anne. Mike, Marnie and Sean enjoyed family time camping at their spot at Rowan’s Ravine, road trips to Minot, and holidays in Waskesiu and Victoria. She went on many girls’ trips over the years, to Las Vegas, Mexico, and Waskesiu Lake. Kapasiwin Bungalows resort was a lively place when Marnie and her gang were there. A testament to her beautiful heart and soul is her extensive group of friends. Marnie is loved and cherished by so many. Her “earth angel” and sister in spirit is Angie Walker, who has been her steadfast friend for years. Marnie was sentimental, gentle, kind, funny, and the best gift-giver around. She put so much thought and care in to our birthday and Christmas gifts. Marnie loved to laugh, and she had the biggest heart. She will be deeply missed. Marnie was predeceased by her parents, Clint and Anne Willford; and her mother-in-law, Marilyn Willimott. She is survived by husband Mike; son Sean (Rebecca); brother Greg; father-in-law Don Willimott; Mike’s siblings Jay (Patrice), Carolyn (Peter), and Mary-Anne; and numerous nieces and nephews, including “honorary” nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held for Marnie with interment to follow. Donations in memory of Marnie may be made to Diabetes Canada, 919B Albert St, Regina, SK S4R 2P6, or at www.diabetes.ca.
