Obituary of Gurbachan Singh Khaira

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gurbachan Singh Khaira, on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Gurbachan is loved and remembered by his wife, Baldev Kaur Khaira; his sons, Gurjaipal Singh (Gurmail Kaur) and Amritpal Singh (Karamjit Kaur); his daughter, Surinderpal Kaur Gill (Late Sukhjinder Singh); his grandchildren, Rajneet Kaur (Anmolk Singh), Jatti Singh (Parminder Kaur), Gurpreet Kaur (Rahul), Jasmeet Kaur (Newpreet Singh), Harpreet Singh, Ranbir Singh, Gurjot Kaur and Karnbir Singh; and his great-grandchildren, Manraj Singh, Divanoor Kaur, Ridhaan, and Rehmet Kaur. 

Gurbachan was born in Khaira Majja, Punjab, India to Late Sadhu Singh Khaira and Late Mahan Kaur Khaira. He attended Sahi Das College before joining the Indian Army. Gurbachan left his position in the Army to become a Government Official until he came to Canada in October of 1995. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and gardening. Gurbachan was always a happy man that radiated positive energy and made it his job to ensure everyone around him was happy and loved.
