It is with great sadness that his daughter, Darlyne, announces the passing of Harvey L. Gerhart on March 24, 2021; only five days following the passing of the love of his life, Adele.
Harvey was predeceased by his wife, of 71 years, Adele; granddaughter Lorie Marie; parents Adolph and Barbara; sisters Lily, Sophie, Minnie, Ruth, Lydia, Mrytle, Edna and brothers Alfred, John, Bill, Harold and Gordon; as well as his brothers in-law Philip Klee and Murray Campbell.
Harvey is survived by his daughter Darlyne Wagner; grandsons Mark (Jen) and Michael (Nicola); granddaughter Shannon (Dion); great grandkids Dominic and Alice; as well as his sisters-in-law Erna (Al) Wolf, Hilda Campbell and Del Klee.
Born in September of 1926 on the family farm at Southey, SK, Harvey was the youngest of his family but also the longest living member at 94.7 years. After finishing school, he attended Teachers College in Moose Jaw, SK and then got his Administrators Degree. This provided him the opportunity to work for the Federal Government as an Auditor for the Income Tax Department. After many years, he transferred to become a Program Administrator for Canada Pension Plan, serving in that role until retirement.
He was a life member of Regina WA WA Shrine, was active in Drill Corp, became Chief of Staff and then received Honorary Chief of Staff Emeritus; Harvey wore the Red Fez proudly. Harvey was a long-time member at St. Marks Lutheran Church, singing bass in the church choir for over sixty years. Music was a big part of his life. He played piano, guitar and accordion; his music was mostly by ear.
Harvey and Adele couldn't wait to travel to his favorite destination Hawaii and they travelled there for many, many winters. He took pride traveling and driving his motorhome, with friends from Queen City Good Sam's where he played his accordion at many campouts.
Harvey was truly a family man who loved his relatives, friends and neighbors. His home was always open to welcome anyone for food, fun and music.
A Celebration of Life will be held when COVID restrictions have been lifted. Donations may be made in memory of Harvey to St. Marks Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina SK, S4S 2G2.
