Obituary of Samuel Victor McKay
Samuel Victor McKay “Sam” of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on April 3, 2021 at the age of 97. Sam was born and raised in Regina Beach. He joined the army at age 18 and was honourably discharged due to illness. He married Juanita McConnell and they were able to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2007. They would share their life together until her passing in 2017. They loved to travel and made several trips to Hawaii and spent winters in British Columbia. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and were always present at holiday and birthday celebrations. Sam owned his own moving company named Del-Rio and did moves across Canada. When he sold his company, he then worked for United Van Lines for several years. He loved curling and was a member of the Regina Beach Curling Club. He competed in tournaments throughout Saskatchewan. Watching curling on television was one of his favourite pastimes. Last year Sam was recognized as a Métis veteran by the Métis Federation of Canada. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Nurses and Care Aids of the Palliative Care Unit who helped provide the care he needed at home.
