Remembering Erlinda

November 20, 1953 - April 10, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Erlinda Galvez Capili at the age of 67 years from Regina, SK. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family physically and virtually; at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Rafael; children: Rowena (Evann) Capili-Miguel, Rowell (Ruth) Capili, Roderick Capili and Rodell (Keene) Capili; precious grandchildren: Castiel and Ezekiel, Akeisha and Adrielle, and Rogue; Furbaby Toffee; siblings: Ernesto (Engracia) Galvez, Teresita (Mario) De Jesus, Bonifacio (Elizabeth) Galvez, Benito (Noemi) Galvez, Lourdes Galvez; Adriano (Mellany) Galvez; and brother-in-law Job Manahan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, extended family and relatives, in-laws, and treasured friends. 

Erlinda was predeceased by her parents Iluminada (2019) and Andres (1990); and sisters Corazon Galvez (1964), Teodora Galvez (1965), Thelma Manahan (1999), Leonila Perez (2021- who also gained her angel wings the day before Erlinda did); and brother-in-law Nazario Perez (2019).

She was born and raised in the Philippines and a loving parent that she is, moved to Canada in 2016 with Rafael so they can be closer to their first two children, Rowena and Rowell, and their four sweet grandchildren. They were scheduled to go back to the Philippines if not for the pandemic, to meet their newest granddaughter, Rogue for the first time and visit their two sons, Roderick and Rodell whom she hasn’t agonizingly seen for almost five years.

Mommy Linda, Mami Dida, Mamu - these are but a few of the appellations we call our dear Erlinda. Whatever we decide to call her, it points to the same woman who has always been there for us through thick and thin. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, boundless generosity, and big heart. Erlinda is an exemplary image of a selfless mother with overflowing unconditional love not just for her children, but for everyone. As the popular Filipino saying goes: “Ang ina isusubo na nga lang, ibibigay pa sa anak,” loosely translated in English as “A mother will even be willing to give the child the food she is about to put in her mouth.”  That is who she is, she always places others first before herself. Her caring and loving personality will be terribly missed.

A Visitation / Prayer Service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Speers Funeral Chapel at 6:00 p.m. However, due to gathering restrictions guests are encouraged to attend virtually via Zoom. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
