Obituary of Dwight Edward Collins
Dwight Edward Collins of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones at the Pasqua Hospital, Palliative Care Unit following a lengthy illness. He was the third of five children born to Eric and Laura Collins on April 14, 1945 at Regina, Saskatchewan. Left to cherish Dwight’s memory are his wife of 57 years, Phyllis; sons, Darwin (Louise) and Jason (Tammy); grandchildren, Brandon (Rachel), Karlyn, Teran, Tyson, and Shane; great-grandchildren, Decca, Baya, and Lotie; siblings, Jim (Shirley) Cameron and Trevor (Janice) Collins; in-laws, Jill Collins and Vern (Carol) Leis; mother-in-law Pauline Leis; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Dwight’s working career included many years spent as a professional truck driver and many more years as a proud owner of an outdoor sporting goods store in the city of Regina, he eventually retired in 1998. When not working, Dwight enjoyed spending quality time outdoors with his family, friends, and his dogs, especially fishing, hunting, and camping. He was also very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in sports and other activities they were involved in. Dwight was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Laura Collins; siblings, Doug Collins and Delores Reid; father-in-law John Leis; and brother-in-law Gordon Reid. A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 13, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 4B3.
