Obituary of Annie Buburuz
It is with great sadness the family of Annie (Anne) Buburuz announce her passing just five days short of her 92nd birthday on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Anne was born in Czechoslovakia May 23, 1929 and came to Canada at the age of three. She married Paul Rohatyn and started a family in Estevan then settled in Regina. Together they had a family of five children. Sadly, the family was torn with the death of Paul far too early. After Paul’s passing, Anne married Tony Buburuz and expanded the family with two more children. Anne was very social and had a funny nature which she inherited from her mother. Over the years Anne enjoyed decades of five pin bowling and lawn bowling at which she became quite accomplished. She was well known for her excellent homemade goods, especially bread and pyrogies. Most of the back yard was planted as a vegetable garden which Anne tended with the help of her children when she could get it. The abundant fruit trees kept Anne busy with jam and jelly making. As a very proficient knitter, she made thousands of items including mittens, scarves, blankets and toques to the benefit of her family and also donated many to schools, hospitals and other organizations. In her later years, once the yard became too much to manage, Anne moved to an apartment where she quickly made some new friends with who she enjoyed coffee, card games and general socialization as she was quite a social butterfly. She kept many laughing with her quick wit and sense of humour. Anne will lovingly be remembered by her children Carol Rohatyn, Paula (Brian) Triffo, Nadine Buburuz and Colin Buburuz as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anne will also be missed by many friends. She is also survived by brothers Bill Renchko and Jim Renchko. Anne was predeceased by brother John, brother Mike and sister Margaret both in infancy; husband Paul Rohatyn; husband Tony Buburuz; son Dennis Rohatyn; daughters Gail Rohatyn and Sandra Mengel. A private graveside gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anne’s name to a charity of choice.
