Obituary of Joan Catherine Carlson

CARLSON, Joan “Joanie” Catherine

July 21, 1933 - May 23, 2021

Joan peacefully and quietly slipped away, to join her late husband Carl, late in the evening of Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Wintergreene Estates – Haven House in Regina, where she had resided for the last four years. She was predeceased by Carl, her husband of 44 years, in 2001; her only sister Irene Arthur and her husband Reg Arthur and, by their son and Joan’s only nephew, Randy Arthur. Joan is survived by her only child Leanne Dawn Black and her husband Don Black. She also leaves Zachy, her last furry baby.  After Joan moved to Wintergreene, Zachy went to live with Leanne and Don, where he continues to happily reside with his furry siblings Bella and Bob. Joan and Carl were consummate animal lovers and rescued many animals over the years.  Both she and Carl appreciated the work of the Regina Humane Society and donations to the Capital Campaign of the Society in Joan’s memory would be a fitting tribute. Joan will be interred alongside Carl at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Regina.  A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Sincere thanks go out to the kind and caring staff at Wintergreene for the attentive and compassionate care provided to Joan during her residency and particularly in her final months in Memory Care.
