Sorry to hear of Perry's sudden passing.
I remember Perry coming into the post office with a car part that he wanted to send to a customer by C.O.D. when he was operating his Performance Auto Wrecking. Within a few minutes, the package was on its way. After that I never knew when I saw Perry drive up, what he was going to send across Canada...a truck hood, a fender, a gear, a shaft, tires, a mirror or a door handle... anything but the 427 block.
When he was raising pocket puppies, he came in with a grin on his face. I was waiting for a joke or a story when I saw his shirt pocket move. I said "You have a live one in your pocket." Perry said "Yes, I do and would you weigh it for me." The puppy only weighed 900 grams and was ready for its new owners.
As Norman and I drove into Perry's yard, I saw him flip a vehicle on its side with a bobcat. Being curious I asked, what are you doing with your vehicle on its side? With a straight face, he said "fastest way to change oil and how can I help you."
A smile, a twinkle in his eye and always had time for a visit.
