Virginia Gaschler

Obituary of Virginia Joan Gaschler

Virginia (Ginny) Gaschler, late of Lumsden SK, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years.

She was predeceased by her father Victor; her mother Rose (Albus); and her sister Irma Burgess. Virginia is survived by her brother Ernie (Margaret Ann) Gaschler of Regina; her niece Kristine (Geoff) Vallance of Grand Coulee and their children Jack and Aidan; and her nephew Michael (Doris) Gaschler of Regina and their children Molly and Helen.

Virginia grew up in Southey, SK.  After high school she attended Success Business College in Regina and worked for the provincial government in health records administration. She moved to Vancouver in 1974 where she worked for Pacific Blue Cross until her retirement.

Virginia was an avid sports fan and lifelong Riders’ supporter. She took up crochet and cross stitch upon her retirement, and many of her fine works were framed and donated to charity auctions. She loved to travel with friends, especially to her favorite sunny destinations, Portugal and Palm Springs.

A private family interment will be held at the Southey Lutheran Cemetery.

Anyone so wishing may donate to the Alzheimer’s Society in her memory.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and care staff at the Cupar Nursing Home and the Lumsden Heritage Home for their tender and loving care during the time she was with them.
