Floyd Melvin Manz, of Regina, died unexpectedly, on Friday, June 18, 2021, at the age of 82. Floyd was born in Southey, Saskatchewan on April 25, 1939. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Ernest and Minnie Manz, and his loving wife of 48 years, Else. Floyd is survived by his sister, Evelyn Arnett; brother, Mickey Bloos (Helen); sons, Ian and Stephen Manz (Jo-anna); grandchildren, Nicole, Noah and Evan Manz; and his loving life partner for the past eight years, Ida Maeder.

Floyd studied at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1968, he received his Chartered Accountant designation in Alberta. In 1979, Floyd started his own firm, F.M. Manz Chartered Accountant, in Regina. It was important to Floyd to give back to his profession and to his community.  He was involved in numerous organizations including the Regina Lutheran Home, the Saskatchewan Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the Regina Rotary Club, and the Canadian Progress Club.

In 1998 Floyd was awarded the FCA designation. In 2013, he was awarded the Service Above Self Award from the Rotary Club of Regina, as well as being a recipient of The Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Metal.

Floyd married Else Manz on July 31, 1965. They were married for 48 years. Following Else’s passing in 2013, Floyd has been lucky enough to share his life with Ida Maeder.

Though Floyd was 82 years of age, he did not show it. His love of life, of his family and of his friends, kept him young. He seized the day, every day, never missing the opportunity to contribute to society, or to launch into an adventure. Family and friends were Floyd’s pride and joy. Wherever he went, whomever he met, he would connect with someone, leaving them better for having known him. He will be missed by many, but most of all, by his family, his partner Ida, his friends, his church, and his community.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Craig Moeller officiating. To view the livestream of the service please click on the link above.
