MaryAnn Kernechuk, late of St. Basil’s Manor, Regina, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the age of 77 years. MaryAnn was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Anne Loibersbek; and brothers-in-law Richard Read and Kurt Sonnabend.  She will be missed by her sisters: Pat Read of London, Ontario, Loretta Loibersbek (Yvette Houle) of Edmonton, Alberta, Liz (Clarence) Heller, Anna Loibersbek and brother Tony (Lucy) Loibersbek.

MaryAnn will be fondly remembered by her niece and nephews:  Trisha (Pasquale) Magliaro, of Mount Bridges, Ontario, Todd Repushka of Beijing, China, and David (Andrea) Heller of Regina, Saskatchewan including their children, Jordan Heller, and Devin and Faith Magliaro who some referred to her as Auntie MAK.

She was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on August 8, 1943. MaryAnn attended St. Augustine and Balfour Tech. Her first job was at Kresge’s but her secretarial classes during high school landed her an office job at Worth’s Radio. She went on to work at SGT (Saskatchewan Government Telephones) in the Rural Telephone Dept. working her way up to Executive Secretary at Directwest.

MaryAnn was involved in the C.W.L. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and later at Holy Child Parish. She really enjoyed her Bunco nights and parties with the Bunco Girls. This year in August, MaryAnn would have celebrated 42 years of sobriety being a member of A.A. She was very proud of her Austrian heritage. MaryAnn was fortunate, after retirement, to have the opportunity to visit her father’s birthplace Jabing, Burgenland, Austria. She enjoyed watching football and curling, making sure everyone was advised when the games were on TV.

MaryAnn lived her life on her terms, but she always meant well! We will miss you Mozzarella!

To honor MaryAnn’s birthday and to Celebrate her Life a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Child Parish, 2636 7th Avenue E., Regina, SK on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Due to health compromised family members, we request that those wishing to attend please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, as MaryAnn was a cancer survivor, please consider your memorial donations to be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 7T1

The family would like to thank the EMTs, the staff of the Pasqua Emergency Dept. and doctors and nurses from the MSU for the kindness, respect, and care provided to MaryAnn and her family.
