Malcolm Gunnar Sanderson was a quiet and gentle man, who went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, August 10th, with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born October 2nd, 1934, in Turtleford, SK, to his father, Gunnar Sanderson, a Swedish Immigrant, and his mother, Isabelle Sharp, of Balcarres, SK. After the loss of his father’s sawmill in Spruce Lake, SK, during the depression of the 30’s, his family decided to homestead between Prince George and Hixon, BC. He grew up back and forth between the homestead, with his father, and living in different towns and cities with his mother, a one-room schoolhouse and music teacher. After graduating High School, Malcolm joined the Royal Canadian Air Force for the sole purpose of receiving his Electronics Technician training. He served for two years on an Air Force Base in Zweibrücken, Germany, servicing the electronic gun sites on Canada’s newest fighter jets. Once his service time was completed, he moved back to Canada, eventually settling in the Lower Mainland of BC, fixing TV’s for a living. During that period of life he had some interesting encounters that led him to devote his life to Jesus. He enrolled in Life Bible College, where he met his wife-to-be, Anne Caygill. They were married March 21st, 1970, and moved north to Prince George a few years later with their young son, John, followed soon after with the arrival of their daughters, Melanie and Trina. When the introduction of the tubeless television ended his career, Malcolm transitioned to photocopier repair until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, tinkering, reading, eating, drinking coffee, and generally being outdoors, especially in wandering around the woods and fields of his family’s old homestead. Malcolm and Anne remained some 44 years in Prince George, active in various churches and visiting with friends. They left in 2017 to be closer to their children and grandchildren, first in the Okanagan, then in Regina, where Malcolm ended his earthly journey. Malcolm was predeceased by his parents, along with his younger sister, Isabelle, and very recently by his younger brother, Ray. He is survived by his wife, Anne Sanderson, son, John Sanderson (Janine) of Keremeos, BC, his daughters, Melanie Phillips (Skip) of Regina, and Trina Maclean (Michael) of Calgary, grandchildren, Isaac, Faith, Skyla, Duncan, Lachlan, Blodwyn, and Aldan, his nieces, Prairie and Sayle and their families, and by his three sisters-in-law, Rita, Sandy, and Marilyn with their families. His family wishes to extend a huge thank you to the nurses and doctors of Pasqua Hospital’s ER and 3D, as well as to so many others who’ve extended their love and support to Malcolm and his family.
