Marion Fordon

Obituary of Marion Mae Fordon

It is with great sadness that the Fordon Family announces Marion’s passing after a 16-year struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Marion was predeceased by her husband Ted Fordon; parents John and Ethel Grof; brothers Brian and John Grof; grandson Shane Lawrek; great-grandson Randy Andresen; great-grand daughter Sophia Percy; and brothers-in-law Ronald Fordon and Ken Roberts.

Marion was born and raised in the Cupar area. She met and married the love of her life, Ted in 1951.  Together they had 7 children which created a family of 86 and growing.

Left to mourn Marion’s passing are her children: Roxanna (Jim) Seery, Skye Andresen, Ted (Brenda) Fordon, Melodie (Peter) Lawrek, Dawn (Perry) Hart, April (Kelly) Weber, and Chloe Fordon (Chris Cole); 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grand children and one great-great grand child; her siblings, Shirley Roberts, Robert (Yvonne) Grof, Colleen (John) Pomoty, and Carol (Allen) Godlien; sister-in-law Lucy Grof; a very large extended family, and many friends.

Marion had many interests throughout her life.   She loved gardening, music, and art. She was an excellent singer, her favorite songs being hymns which she continued to sing even in the later stages of the Alzheimer’s.  She taught ceramic classes for many years in Cupar. She was involved in the community and all the activities that her children participated in. Marion went back to school later in life and achieved her GED. She worked as an EMT with the Volunteer Ambulance in Cupar and as nurse’s aide at the hospital. She had a keen interest in history and genealogy. She researched and created detailed books of the family history for her children and grandchildren.

Marion spent the last five years of her life in the Cupar and District Nursing Home as the disease progressed.

In Marion’s own words: “Oh what a wonderful feeling as you drift into the Autumn of your life, to have loved and been a part of a family that cared and to have lived a good life.”

A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held at the Cupar Town Hall, on Sunday August 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. This is a scent-free service. A private family interment will follow at the Cupar Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the Doctor’s and Nursing staff at the Regina General Hospital (Emergency Room, Neuroscience and Medicine Inpatient Unit, and Palliative Care) who cared so well for Marion in the last days of her life.

In lieu of flowers, individuals are encouraged to donate in memoriam to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK., S4P 3X1.
