Darrell Walters

Obituary of Darrell Blaine Walters

With broken hearts, the family of Darrell Walters announce his passing from cancer on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Darrell was a kind and humble man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He enjoyed a simple and quiet life with his loving wife Brenda and took great pleasure in spending time with his children and grandchildren.   His love for his family was unquestioned.  Nothing gave him greater joy than seeing his children and grandchildren grow up to have wonderful lives of their own.  He leaves behind a lasting legacy of hard work, honesty, devotion and loyalty.

After retiring from a successful career as a business installer at Sasktel, Darrell farmed with his brother-in-law Sandy Campbell and later worked with Sandy building custom homes in Deer Valley.   Darrell could build and fix anything mechanical or otherwise.  He took on home renovations for friends and family with precision and fine craftsmanship.   His artist’s eye allowed him to create beautiful and inventive works of iron and wood.   He loved spending time in his garage meticulously maintaining his cars, especially his prized and pristine black 1965 Olds Cutlass “Billy."

Darrell was predeceased by his dad Gabriel (1987) and mom Lena (2018).  He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 45 years Brenda; son Adam (Heidi) and grandchildren Logan, Ethan, Emily and Elijah; daughter Nicole (Kevin) Hauck and grandson Henry.  Also left to mourn his passing are his sisters Lorraine, Sharon (John) Charlton; brothers Larry and Aaron (Lisa); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ogle, Dr. Salim, Dr. Loback, Dr. Suderman and Dr. Baumann as well as all the nurses at the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the pain management team at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, their extraordinary care of Darrell during his journey with cancer was appreciated beyond words and will not be forgotten.

A Private Family Celebration of Darrell’s life will be held at a later date.   Flowers are gratefully declined.   Friends so wishing may make a donation in memory of Darrell to Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK., S4T 7T1.
