Obituary of Laurette Josephine Bell

We are saddened to announce the passing of our Mother, Laurette Josephine Bell, 88 years, born July 25th, 1933 to Joseph and Melanie Paradis in Lamoureux, Alberta.

Mom and Dad (Donald Wayne Bell) met on a blind date on Valentine’s Day, 1952 and married the same year on August 30th.  They moved their home from Edmonton to Regina in 1956 where they started their own business together (Insulation Applicators Ltd). They shared so many beautiful experiences over 63 years.  In 1979, Mom ventured out on her own and co- founded Thee Lingerie Shoppe, fitting women in and around Regina with quality and exquisite lingerie. It was her passion. Laurette was also a member of the CWL for over 50 years.  She spent hours knitting toques for shelters and the needy, her favourite always being Rider toques.  While Laurette will be remembered for so many reasons, she will be remembered by us as our Matriarch - watching over seven children and their blended families, including twenty-three grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Sadly, she lost her grandson Denny Bell (Bea) and grandson-in-law, Tim Watermeyer (Holly).  She lost Dad, the love of her life in 2015.

Mom loved a great conversation and always had an opinion (usually right!) and enjoyed hosting holiday dinners for the whole gang.  She also enjoyed the challenge of cribbage, often with a drink of rum.  She danced through life with Dad and has now joined him, I’m sure, jiving in the clouds.

Laurette is survived by son Wayne (Bonnie - Derek (Sandra), Dawn), daughter Melanie (Doug – Amie (Jordan - Georgia, Melanie, Bradley), Leah (Josh- Ashton), Holly (Dylan- Maitland, Easton, Huxley), Marnie (Piotr- Taylor and Mannix), son Grant (Glenda - Lindsay (Luke - Noah, Liam, Eve),Ryan, Tyler (Carmen- Camilla, Kian), Matt (Chelsea), Kelsey (Rick), son Don (Carolyne - Tracy (Reid - Jessa, Janae, Malcolm), Amanda (Matthew- Dylan, Andie), Ronnie (Jessie- Jayden, Emmit), Randi-lee (Joel. - Marley, Layna), Scott (Hailey- Bennett, Vaughn), Trevor (Cherise- Kayel), son Garth (Mia and Stevie (Corbin), son Graham, daughter, Linda (Brittany (Cameron- Sven, Remi), Ashley (Tyler)

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully appreciated to Doctors Without Borders (doctorswithoutborders.ca) or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cysticfibrosis.ca)

Our family wishes to send our gratitude to Dr. Bester, Victoria Care Home staff and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Regina General and Pasqua Hospitals for all their professional and kind care of our mother.
