Obituary of Ronald Monk

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Monk announce that our precious Ron passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister and brother; and his brother-in-law Sean O’Donnell. Ron leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 25 years, Nancy; son Ron Jr. (James) of Edmonton, AB; daughters, Kim (Lauren) Wirth, Sheri Kosten and Shelan Cook; grandsons, Cory, Jaren, Ryan, Dylan, and Keylan Cook ; sister-in-law Maureen (Brian) Demers; best bud Ken (Pearl) Peters; special friend Marie Sakon; as well as friends and members of the Lion’s Club and Communities. Ron was the first nurse to work in corrections in Saskatchewan. He then moved on to be a Union Negotiator with SGEU until his retirement in 1994. Following his retirement, he became the Bylaw Officer for Regina Beach for 23 years. He was a loving husband, great dad (Pops), and very proud “Gramps.” Ron was the true definition of a volunteer. He was a proud member of the Lion’s Club at Regina Beach and was inducted into the Lion’s Hall of Fame in 2019. Ron served on many Boards and Committees including Primary Health, Age-Friendly Communities, Executive of Congress of Union Retirees of Canada and President of Saskatchewan Union Retirees Federation. He was an avid lover of many sports throughout his life and he is in the Sports Hall of Fame in Prince Albert. Ron’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful Health Professionals who provided the best care to him over the years. A private Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Regina Beach Lion’s Club.
