Obituary of Kenneth Walker

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Walker on August 27, 2021 at the age of 93 years. Ken has gone to be with his wife of nearly 65 years, Tina (Neufeld), who passed away on March 9, 2016.

Ken will be sadly missed by his three daughters, Joanne (Kent Martens), Kendra (Peter Sawchyn) and Patti (Louis Schwindt); his grandchildren, Tristan Walker, Tamara Ayre, Renee Walker, Mackenzie Sawchyn, Freeman Ayre and Otis Ayre; eight great-grandchildren; and his godson Darrell Bertsch.

Ken was also predeceased by his parents Ernest and Matilda Walker; his brother Wilfred Walker and his nephew Kevin Walker.

Ken was born and raised on a farm near the town of Holdfast, Saskatchewan. After leaving the farm, he spent two seasons working with a logging crew in Ontario. In Regina, Ken owned his own taxi company before starting his Career with the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1952, a career that lasted 36 years.

Ken was passionate about curling, a sport he both participated in and watched. Ken and Tina followed the World Curling Championships giving them the opportunity to travel to Scotland and many other countries. He was an avid fisherman, and made annual trips to Northern Saskatchewan for long weekends with his fishing buddies.  Ken and Tina’s travels also took them to Hawaii many times. Annual family vacations to various parts of Canada by CP Rail are also a fond memory.

Our most heartfelt gratitude goes out to Pastor Lynn Robertson, of Christ Lutheran Church, for officiating over Ken and Tina’s interment and to Jeff Christiansen, of Speers Funeral Chapel, for his support and guidance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s honour to either Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1B7 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #26-1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9.
