It is with great sadness that the family of Wee Gain “Perry” Yee, late of Regina announces his passing. Perry passed away peacefully on Monday September 6, 2021.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Koy Yee and Gin Hee Yee and his wife of 63 years Yim Yung Yee. Perry is survived by his six children, Kenneth, Donald (Christine), Shirley (Terry) Thompson, George, John (Dabelyn) and Roger (Lorelei); nine grandchildren, Abigail Yee, Jade, Amber, Brandan and Aspen Thompson; Kirsten and Bianca Yee; Malia and Will Yee; nephew Ron (Judy) Jung; great-niece Jennifer, and niece Linda (Fiorenzo) Gardin.
Perry was born in the Toisan Village located in the Kwangtung Province of China and immigrated to Canada in 1953 in hopes of creating a new life in Canada for his family. It wasn’t until 12 years later when his wife Yim and first born son Ken would join him in Canada. Together they ran Perry Yee’s Confectionery on College Avenue for 16 years. They also raised a successful family through dedication and hard work. Throughout his life, he showed us the true meaning of strength, courage and love.
Special thanks to all the staff at the Westminister Care Home where Perry lived for the last 6 years and to the nursing staff at the General Hospital 5E Covid ward for looking after him in his final days.
