He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Daniel Gilewicz, brother Peter in infancy and sister Audrey. Dennis is survived by brothers and sisters, Caroline (John), Marvin (Sandy), Paul, Dianne, Ray (Cindy) and Shirley (Rick); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dennis worked for over 40 years at the Regina General Hospital in Diagnostic Imaging before retiring in 2018. He enjoyed a rewarding career and made many lifelong friends during his years at the hospital. Dennis was always willing to help everyone out, he always “had a guy” to get the job done. He was also very helpful with buying and selling other people’s cars, dedicated to finding the best deal possible. Dennis had a passion for the outdoors and hunting. He always looked forward to hunting season as his favorite time of year. He also enjoyed travelling, spending winters in Arizona, hiking and having a beer on the deck with his many friends.
Dennis bravely fought a tough battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He remained very positive throughout his treatment and was a true inspiration to many people to always stay strong. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bone Marrow Transplant unit (Unit 6100) at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon where Dennis received a stem cell transplant in September 2020. He received excellent care and in his true nature of helping others, he would want to help further research or provide some comfort to other people going through the same treatment.
Dennis will be remembered as a selfless, reliable and hardworking family man that has touched the lives of many people.
