Obituary of Jean Smith

M. Jean Smith passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 in Regina, SK at the age of 94. She was born in Nokomis, SK on September 6, 1927 to parents Roy and Alice Rowand and was the youngest of five siblings. Jean grew up on the farm where she was very proud to be working and “keeping up with all the boys.”  She grew up and moved to the city to work. Jean met Frank while working for the Saskatchewan Government and they were married in 1953.  They welcomed their daughter Sheryl in 1966. Jean loved reading, animals of all kinds and westerns.  She was a crafter and a tinker, and always said “It was a good thing she could fix things, because Frank couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with a hammer!”

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Franklin Smith; her parents Roy and Alice Rowand; her siblings, Claude, Marion, Rena and Ross. She is survived by her daughter Sheryl (Jason) Clarke; and her grand-daughters Anastasia, Alexandra, Savannah and Gabriella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Regina Humane Society, PO Box 3143 Stn Main, Regina, SK S4P 3G7. A Graveside Service will take place at Regina Memorial Gardens, 4001 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, SK on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM.  We will meet at the cemetery gates at 12:45 PM.
