Frederick Alexander Webster, son of William and Agnes Webster, was born on the family farm on April 13, 1925. He passed away Oct 3, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 96, with family by his side.  Fred was the eldest in the family and considered himself blessed to have three fun-loving sisters: Ruth, Wilma and Della. William and Agnes raised their four children on the homestead, known as Granite Lodge. Fred attended school in the Welwyn/Rocanville area: some years were spent at Cailmount School; however, he completed his education at Cambridge School.

     Fred loved the farm and working with his father. In 1946 he moved to Saskatoon for a short course on blacksmithing, welding and agricultural engineering. Fred accepted changes and challenges as they came along in his farming career and his life. He was anxious to transition from horse-drawn, steel-wheeled equipment to modern rubber-tired machinery. He always kept a keen interest in the present, with his focus on the future. Complaining wasn’t part of his program, but finding ways to overcome difficulties was his specialty. This desire for progress on the farm was paramount throughout his farming years.

    Family was very dear to him, but we all knew that his first love was for his Heavenly Father. This love for God was instilled in him during his youth.  At Theodore Convention in July 1941, at the age of 16, he chose to follow God’s way.

    In 1950, a lengthy romance happily developed into his marriage to Muriel Ross of Antler, SK. Together they settled into family life, raising 5 children: Grace (1952), Helene (1954), Joyce (1957), Shirley (1960), and Stanley (1963). After raising purebred Hereford cattle for around 20 years, he transitioned into growing, cleaning, processing and selling pedigreed seed to many local farmers.

    Sadly, Muriel passed away after 36 years of marriage. Devastated and lonely, he pulled himself together by visiting family and friends for hours on end.  Soon the love bug bit him again. Fred’s family welcomed Margaret Bell (Conquergood) as his new bride in the spring of 1987. Margaret excelled in her new role as a farm wife and loved us all unconditionally for 23 years. Fred continued growing seed until he and Margaret moved to Moosomin in 1991 and built a home on Heritage Place.

     In his retirement he kept busy doing custom scraper work for local farmers, and growing fruits and vegetables.  Margaret graciously preserved the produce as he brought it in. Fred endured another loss with Margaret’s passing in March of 2010. After losing her, and experiencing his own health complications, daughter Shirley moved into his home. She cared for him for a few short years. From 2014 he continued living in his own home until it became apparent that he needed more care and company. He graciously agreed with his family’s suggestion, and moved to the Marion Chateau Assisted Living Facility in Regina.
This move took place in October 2015. To his surprise he adjusted to this new environment and quickly came to enjoy fellowship with new friends. His last six years were spent here, and he greatly appreciated the many friends and family, both young and old, who visited him.

     Fred lived a full and meaningful life, departing from this earthly scene very suddenly in his 97th year. He will be greatly missed, but so fondly remembered.

    Fred was predeceased by his wife Muriel (Ross); his second wife Margaret (Conquergood/Bell); his sister Wilma (Lonseth); his brothers-in-law Hartley Affleck and Wilson Crosson; nephew Lyle Crosson; niece Julie McDermit; great-nephew Jamie Affleck and many, many dear and treasured friends.  He leaves loving memories in the hearts of his family:  ● daughter Grace (Lyle) Olson: children Janeen (Sam) Covlin and their children Kate, Emma, Tess, Beau and Chet; Andrew (Michelle) Olson and their children Tyrell, Dax, Blaze and Sawyer; Arlee (Lana) Olson and their daughter Solomia; Adrian (Tiffany) Olson and their children Jake, Dierks, Axel and Izla; ● daughter Helene (Darrell) Kostenuk: children Raelynn (Shayne) Daku and their children Bretton and Daryn; Carmen (Steffanie) Kostenuk and their children Talen and Karis; Annette (Daryl) Kneesch and their children Keaston, Rylen, Jaxx and Alara; Rochelle (Tim) Tidman and their children Brody, Lexi and Aria; ● daughter Joyce (Bryan) Dixon; ● daughter Shirley MacGregor and her children: Sarah (Jace) Velichka and their daughter Althea; and Julian; ● son Stanley (Twila) Webster, and their children: Arla (Malcolm) Bruce and their children Mason and Aria; Ian; and Nyla.   Fred is also survived by his sister Ruth (Mel) Hoecherl; brother-in-law Roy Lonseth; and sister Della Crosson, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, a number of great-great-nieces and nephews, and by many, many friends.

    Funeral Service will be held at the Nutrien Rocanville Community Hall, Rocanville, SK, on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  To view the livestream of the service, please click on the link above on the day of the service. Interment in Webster Cemetery, Rocanville, SK.
