Obituary of Donald Punga

Donald Punga, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2021 at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased by parents Alex and Eva Punga, and infant brother Romey.  Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia; daughter, Lisa children: Luke and Kate; son, Brent (Leslie) children: Alexandra (Jaxon), their son Nash, Daniel, and his daughters Blake and Braelyn, and Austin and Elisha; as well, as numerous family members and friends.  Don was born and raised on a farm in the Wood Mountain area. He worked various jobs in Saskatchewan and Windsor, Ontario. He married Virgi in 1964, and they eventually settled in Regina in 1970, where they raised their family. He owned and operated a successful chemical company for 38 years, retiring in 2008.  Don was very active in the Orthodox Church his entire life.  He, himself, was involved in many sports; golfing, curling, and baseball, and also attended numerous events of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Rider fan. He attended the Wood Mountain Stampede every single year of his life!  Don and Virgi were long time members of the Wascana Golf Club and enjoyed many winters in Arizona with family and friends. The Family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, as well as the special care at the M.S.U. Pasqua Hospital. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 2005 Edgar St., Regina, SK, on Thursday, October 7,  2021 at 10:00 am, with Fr. Christian Frunzulica officiating.
