Pauline was born December 30, 1925 near Torquay, SK and was the oldest child of Barnabus and Florence Steier.  She came to Regina to begin a new life in 1946 and did enjoy her time working various jobs at the Hotel Saskatchewan, Grey Nuns Hospital and Simpsons Sears. Pauline often recollected the good times and many new friends she had made at all of her places of employment in those happy days of her life. Around 1948, she met the love of her life, Nick Kainer, whom she married on June 18, 1949.

Our mother Pauline, enjoyed being a home maker for the rest of her life taking pride in raising 2 daughters, keeping a meticulous house, cooking delicious meals for family and friends as well as hosting many special holiday events. Mother also loved music and dancing. Over the years, both mom and dad kicked up their heels at many dance halls and church cabarets with siblings and friends, often dancing into the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately, in later years, mother was plagued with arthritis which eventually landed her into a care home. In 2016 mom relocated to College Park 2 in Regina where she was well cared for. The staff always took time to ensure Mom was in a prime front row location for all the musical entertainment that would come to the home. Her favourite entertainer was Our Canadian Polka King, Walter Ostanek. His music always put a twinkle in her eye, a smile on her face and got her toes tapping!

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, October 23, 2021. at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations in Pauline’s honour could be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan, 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
