Lillian Murphy

Obituary of Lillian Hamilton Murphy

It is with deep sadness that we say “goodbye” to our mother Lillian.

She had been a resident at Regina Lutheran Home since 2019 and passed peacefully the morning of Thursday, October 21, 2021.

Lillian was predeceased by her father David; mother Isabella; sisters Sheila and Zelene; husband James; brother-in-law Kenneth; and a baby in infancy Alan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Shirley, Paul, James, and Arlene; grandchildren Derek, Brendan, Mariea, and Kaley; great grandchild Jonathan. Lillian is also survived by her sister-in-law Ginger of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law Karen (Paul) of Prestwick, Scotland as well as many extended family members in the U.S.A., and Scotland.

Lillian and her husband James immigrated with their children to Canada in 1975 and settled in Regina, SK but also lived for short periods of time in Brampton, ON and Langley, BC.

For many years Lillian worked cleaning offices part-time. She worked very hard and took a great deal of pride in her work. An incredibly devoted wife and mother; her family always came first. She was one of the most kind, soft hearted and generous people you could ever meet and would give you the shirt off her back or her last nickel if you asked for it.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Regina Lutheran Home for taking care of mum so well for the last couple of years. We would also like to say thank you to the staff at Pasqua Hospital for their care when she had to be hospitalized in August and September of this year.

Your efforts during an ongoing pandemic do not go unnoticed.

A private family visitation was held on Monday, October 25, 2021.  Followed by cremation. No funeral service will be held. Interment of ashes will be in Scotland at a future date where Lillian and her husband James will be interred together.

“Mum, you will always be loved and so very missed, we love you – Shirley, Paul, James and Arlene.”
