We are saddened to announce that we have lost a kind and gentle soul. Alfred Alexander Fuchs died on November 6, 2021, finally escaping the hold of Alzheimer’s disease, which he battled for the past number of years. Alfred was predeceased by his parents, John and Amelia “Molly”; brother, John Fuchs; and sister, Mary (Warren) Geiger. He is survived by his wife, Violet Exner Fuchs; his sister, Alma (Albert) Beingessner; sister-in-law, Helen Fuchs; and their families. Alfred will also be remembered by Vi’s family, Doug (Margaret) Exner; Christine (Doug) Zimmerman; Howard Exner; Cheryl (Frank) Lund; and their families, as well as several nieces and nephews. Alfred was a kind and gentle soul who was always willing to be of help to others. A carpenter and general handyman by trade, he worked throughout Western Canada in his early years. In Alfred’s words, “I loved to fix things and restore them so they are like new.” He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed many different sports, especially softball and badminton. Alfred cheered for the Roughriders and the Blue Jays and would talk about them whenever he could with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing cribbage and he especially enjoyed winning, always giving out a sly chuckle. Alfred earned a pilot’s licence and flew when he could. In all he was a well-rounded man who lived a good and honest life. Alfred was a man of faith and attended Sunday Services regularly. He was devoted to his mother Molly and cared for her as best he could as she battled Alzheimer’s. Donations in Alfred’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
