I first met Bob when he was working at St.Luke’s Hospital in Huddersfield with my beloved cousin Janet Frances. He was charming and funny. They spent their honeymoon at Expo 67 in Montreal before taking up a physiotherapy practice in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. They were partly responsible for my fascination for Canada but had moved further afield before I arrived in 1973. I was very happy when they returned to Regina - finally I had family in the same country as me. I took the train from Calgary to visit them. It was a perishing cold night and 1am when I arrived at the station. But no one was there to meet me! Bob hadn’t realized that I would arrive just after the day began and had expected me the following day. He got out of bed on that freezing night and drove to pick me up. Not sure if he was still in his pyjamas under his winter coat! RIP Bob.
