Obituary of Jack Holmes Horton
Jack passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Mary Horton; and sister-in-law Helen Wallace. Jack is survived by his loving wife Florence; two daughters Dawn (Gordon) MacQuarrie and Heather McElroy; three grandsons, Marcus, Derek and Michael; great-grandson Alex; sister Shirley (Alan) White; brother-in-law Clarence (Shirley) Jackson; sister-in-law Grace Ravndal; and all of Jack’s family through marriage. Jack was born and raised in Southern Ontario. He joined the RCMP in April 1956 and received his training in Regina. Jack served in Ottawa, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the North West Territories. He completed his career in Regina at “F” Division H.Q. retiring in Christopher Lake in April 1986. Jack always said he made many good friends throughout the 30 years, but none like his fellow “D” Troop Members 1956. A private service will be held. Jack’s final resting place will be in the RCMP Columbarium. A special thank you to the staff of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for their care of Jack. Flowers gratefully declined.
