It is with sadness and love that we share the news of the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend, Marian Holtzman. Marian left us peacefully on December 23, 2021, two days short of her 89th birthday.  She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Beatrice Myrah; brother Wesley; brother Edward; sister–in-law Kass Myrah; grandson Brandon and former husband and life-long friend Garnet. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Marina; her sons Lynn (Joanne) and Scott (Sheila); grandchildren Kelly, Alex, MacKenzie and Kiefer along with her numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.

Growing up in Holdfast Saskatchewan, Marian went on to study nursing after high school and then worked as a nurse at the Regina General Hospital after graduation. She married Garnet in 1954 and they farmed with Edward for several years on the homestead at Holdfast. They went on to raise their family in Saskatoon and then Regina, but Holdfast was always “home” to her.

Marian was a friend to all who knew her. She loved nature and all animals but her true passion was flower gardening. Her green thumb was evident by her beautiful yards and gardens wherever she lived. Her favourite flowers were gladiolas. She was a member and president of the Regina Gladiolas Society for many years and her gladiolas always won many awards.

Her final years were spent at the Country Lane Care Home in Pilot Butte. The Holtzman family wants to thank Ann, Zenny and the rest of the staff for their compassion and excellent care that went above and beyond.

A private service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. To view the livestream of the service please click on the link above on the day of the service.  Interment in Holdfast at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marian’s memory to the Saskatchewan Alzheimer’s Society, 301-2550  12th Avenue, Regina SK S4P 3X1.
