We have great memories of George back in our days in Viceroy. George was active in the community, always volunteering his time to flood the ice at the rink, repair the roof on the skating rink and coaching just to name a few. I especially remember playing ball with him, he could run like the wind. A great man who will always be remembered Keith and Barb Zabolotney

The first time I met George was after Rob and I broke down on the highway returning from a youth event in Weyburn, back in the days pre-cell phones. Rob thought he knew where we were, so we ended up walking 17 km to the "nearest" town to find a pay phone where Rob called George to come rescue us. And George did without question. I was impressed by his kindness, giving me a bed for the night and helping me get my car towed the next day to be repaired. I met him many other times over the years and always enjoyed speaking with him and watching him interact with everyone around him with ease and grace. I also seem to remember him pointing out that if we had not gone the direction Rob recommended when we had broken down, we would have only walked 4 km to the "actual" nearest town instead of 17 km. Always a teacher!

George married my oldest sister Patti when I was just 8, so there is hardly a day of my life that he was not a part of. There are so many ways he made my life better, but some extra special standouts are my first drive in movie at Watrous in the Satellite of course, and dancing wild polkas at any and all weddings with those white shoes flashing. But most of all his larger than life joyous smile and hearty infectious laugh. Rest in peace my brother! We are all the better for having the privilege of your presence in our lives. Kathleen Kezama

I have many great memories of uncle George. The one that I remember most was when he had Connie and I participate in a ball tournament in Young. We were naturally playing for the Schaan team. He was obviously the manager and also played. George quickly sized up that Connie was the talent and I wasn’t much of a ball player. When rounding 1st base, after I somehow hit the ball, my toe caught the loop holding the base in place and I stopped immediately- and did some serious damage to my hamstring…..As I lay there partly laughing at my stupidity and crying because I was in so much pain, he came over and instead of assessing my injury - told me it was good that I held up at 1st because otherwise I was going to be out at second….Duane Baran

I will never forget George letting me drive his amazing Satellite car as he gave me pointers while i was learning drive. “Don’t cut the corner so short when turning left” he reminded several times. That was a good lesson and a great car Georgie!! David Ell
