Obituary of Steve McCrystal
On January 14, 2022 Steve McCrystal, late of Regina, passed peacefully at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Millie (Todd) McCrystal; first wife Myrna (Zastrow); long-time companion Kathy Sanftleben; brothers Ronald and Gordon: brother-in-law Brent Cheke and sister-in-law Heather McCrystal. Steve is survived by his daughters Kelly McCrystal (Mel), Patty Filyk (Drew), and son Craig MCrystal (Cari); grandchildren Jordin, Kallen, Regan (Staci), Rory, Ryan, Camryn,Katelyn,Sarah; great grandsons Hunter and Jaxx; sister Dorothy Cheke; brother Frank (Wendy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was born in Regina on November 7, 1938 and attended Holy Rosary School and Campion College. His work in the financial field took him to a number of places across the prairies before he and his family eventually ended up back in Regina with CIBC. Steve mentored many young colleagues over his career. His gregarious nature and boisterous laughter earned him a great number of friends throughout his lifetime. He played fastball and hockey and coached baseball in the Optimist league. At Steve’s request there will be no ceremony, and interment will be a private family gathering at Riverside Memorial Park.
