Annie Young, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, at the age of 96 years.
She was predeceased by parents John and Catherine; sister Kay (Young) Berard; brothers-in-law Aloys Flaman and Hector Berard; sister-in-law Terry (Lorenz) Young; and special friend Frank Schmidt.
Annie is survived by her sister Pat Flaman; brother John Young; nieces and nephews Shannon (Nelson) Scott, Maureen Berard (Darryl Hurd), Kelly Flaman, Colleen Flaman, Kevin (Tammy) Flaman, and Monique Young; and great nieces and nephew Austen and Madisson Flaman, Brendan and Keon Hurd, and Sloan Flaman.
Annie, born on March 5, 1925, grew up on the family farm north of Southey. As the first born and with the love of being outside, Annie always shared stories of working the fields, managing the stock, picking stones and during harvest time putting up sheaves and working alongside the threshing crews. Her favourite place was always outside, as far away from the inside work as she could get.
Annie retired in the 1990’s after about 50 years working in grocery stores. She started working in a rural store north of Southey but moved to the big city of Regina and worked at Palm Dairy Grocery, Shop Easy, West Fair Foods (Tom Boy Grocery), Mid Town Centre Grocery, and Park Street Grocery over her career. Some of us kids have fond memories of visiting Aunt Annie at the Tom Boy Grocery, across from the Army and Navy, in downtown Regina. After retirement Annie filled her time taking care of her yard and flowers, bowling, crocheting, and her favorite activity, visiting on the phone with her many friends and family members.
A celebration of Annie’s life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
