Elizabeth Woytuik

Obituary of Elizabeth Woytuik

Elizabeth (Heldt) Woytuik passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2022  after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Betty was born on January 7, 1929 and recently celebrated her 93rd birthday.

Betty was one of twelve children.  She was predeceased by her mom, dad and siblings Katie, Leona, Mary, Rosie, Ann, Val, Joe and Louie. Betty is survived by sister Christina; brothers Jack and Cleo; her 4 children: Darlene LePine, Kathy Duff (Allan), Jim Woytuik and Shelley Hugo (Jason); 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandsons.

Betty was raised on a farm outside of Fox Valley Saskatchewan until her mother’s death when she was 12. She stayed with relatives, worked to save her money to move to Regina in 1945 at age 16.  She found a job and soon met her soul mate, Zonie Woytuik. They were married in 1946 and had 42 years of marriage until he passed in 1988. Betty was totally dedicated to family. They were her everything. She loved gardening, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting and was a person always admired. She sewed for weddings, graduations, outfits for Westwind band even made hats for their Blues Brothers gig.  She was not afraid to tackle anything.  Betty was treasurer for the CWL at her church, an active member on the prayer line and was always willing to lend a hand or ear to whoever needed her.

A special thank you to Dr McMillan, the Home Care nurses and LifeLab  staff who visited Betty weekly to make her comfortable during these past few months.

A private funeral will be held for immediate family on Friday, January 28, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be planned later in the spring, due to Covid. Flowers are graciously declined, friends or family may make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation if they choose.
