Ruth Moon

Obituary of Ruth Aslaug Moon

It is with great sadness that Ruth's family announce her passing on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 93 years.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Earl Moon; her parents, Fred and Bertha Sorenson, her oldest son, Randy Moon and brothers and sisters in law, Louis (Helen), Edwin (Merna) and Lloyd (Bernice). Left to cherish her memory are her daughter-in-law Patricia Moon, children Michelle (Greg) Henry and Stephen (Amber) Moon; son, Dean (Elaine) Moon, children Robin Bechard, Robbie Bechard, Carmen (Sara) Bechard, Leanne (Mike) Sjodin; son, Bart (Rhonda) Moon, children, April Moon, Bobbi Moon, Corey (Melody) Heiberg, Nicole (Darren) Scott and Amanda Heiberg; and son Glen (Susan) Moon, children, Shawna (Dean) Taylor, Alison (Jeff) James, and Amanda (Marshall) Bakken; as well as numerous beloved great grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Ruth was born on December 22, 1928 in Cabri, Sask., grew up in Madison, farm in summer, town in winter and also where she graduated Grade 12.  And that's where her love of the farm began.  Following high school she worked at Simpson's and then the Correspondence School at the Department of Education in Regina. Her next job took her to Lang where she worked in the Post Office.   Magically one Saturday night at a local dance in Lang, she met the love of her life, Earl Moon, they were inseparable, and were married April 14, 1949 for 61 years. Their quiet evenings quickly changed as 4 boys followed! She became actively involved in her communities, a member of Riceton and Lang United Churches, Lang Curling Club (attended endless bonspiels), member of Lang Helping Hand since 1954, and avid Bunco player.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, daytime soap operas and did more cooking than anyone could ever imagine and all were welcome at her table!  She raced Earl's stock car often and attended the Canadian Seed Grower's Convention each and every year they farmed.  She loved farming and helped Earl build an amazing successful farm! All this aside, family truly was everything to her, a devoted mother and grandmother, never putting herself first and was evident in her love of family gatherings and especially at Christmas, her favorite time of year. Ruth will be forever remembered by her family and friends as hard working, kind hearted, giving, funny, as she loved to tell a good joke!  A very special thank you to the staff at Hill Top Manor in Weyburn.  Your kindness will never be forgotten. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, #225 - 1874 Scarth St. Regina, Sk. S4P 4B3.
