Patricia Zatylny (Petrar) of Dysart, SK, died on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the age of 72, with her family at her side. Pat was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2021.
Pat was predeceased by the love of her life, Garry; her dad John Petrar; parents-in-law Joe and Vera Zatylny; brothers-in-law David, Vern and Ted; and sister-in-law Tena.
Pat is remembered by her mom, Gladys Petrar; her daughters and their husbands, Nikki and Ryan Czemeres, Amy and Michael Bott, and Becky and Dean Schick; her precious grandchildren Tara, Mitchell and Karlee Czemeres, Emily and Katelynn Bott, and Kendel and Jase Schick. She is also survived by her brother Brian (Heidi) Petrar; her in-laws, Jerry and Joanne Zatylny, Joe Zatylny, Donna and Leonard Moroz, Merle Zatylny and Helen Weir; plus numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
In 1971, Pat married her best friend Garry and they built a beautiful life together. They set a wonderful example of generosity and hospitality for their three daughters.
Pat was the oldest grandchild in her family and learned to take the leadership role very early in life. She called Dysart home for her whole life. Pat ventured to the big city of Regina to continue her education after grade 12 to obtain her teaching certificate then returned to Dysart to start her teaching career. The role of leader came naturally to Pat and the Village was the benefactor of her organized and dedicated nature. No matter the idea, Pat jumped in as leader or participant. It would take a whole page to note each of these achievements, so here are the highlights: both the Catholic and Anglican churches, the Historical Society and museum, the 4-H Club, the Community Centre Committee, the Community rink and so many more. Somehow Pat was also able to find time to work at the family business of Dysart Sales & Service.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Dysart, on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, Box 177, Dysart SK S0G 1H0 or to any of the Dysart Community organizations Pat was involved in.
