Obituary of Violet Rose West

Vi (Violet) Rose West (nee Johnson), passed away unexpectedly in her home in Regina, SK on March 2, 2022 at the age of 84 years.

Mom was born to Alfred and Florence Johnson and grew up on the family farm; she attended Success School. She and her sisters Fran and Ellen spread their wings and moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba, for work. While there she met Gordon West, they married, and resided in Melville where they raised their four children. Mom worked at Sears Catalogue Center, The Paper Mart, and Royal Drug Mart. She enjoyed her work, the friendships she developed there, and the customers with whom she visited every day. She loved her flower beds, gardening, bowling, and time with her coffee friends.

Mom moved to Regina in 2004, then to her dream condo in 2008 where she resided until her passing. Mom rescued, found companionship, and loved spoiling her dog Mojo. She volunteered at the Pasqua Hospital Gift Shop and the Cancer Center where she met a new group of coffee friends.

Vi found great pleasure in opening her home to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren where they enjoyed family meals, exploring, making movies, making lefse, and just having fun!

She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Florence Johnson, husband Gordon West, brothers August and Donald Johnson, and sisters Margaret Wing/Reves, Frances Kew, and Ellen Maranchuk.

She leaves to mourn her pet Mojo; her children Dovona (Pam Booker) West; Kathy (Stuart Eaton) West and children Sasha (Vance) Ash and Bryden Eaton; Donnie West and daughter Alexis West; Cheryl West and children Kyle (Kaylee) Tumack, Nicole Tumack, Dana (Bob) Duncan; great grandchildren Riley Tumack,  Merrick and Nola Ash; her brother-in-law Eddy Maranchuk, with whom she had a kindred friendship. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

There will be a private service for immediate family. A graveside memorial and burial will be held on a later date in Melville, SK.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regina Pasqua Hospital Auxiliary, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1A5.
