Obituary of Olga Yablonski

Olga passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ed in 2012; her parents John and Anastasia Stecyk; siblings, Alex, Mike, Henry, Anne (Zawitkowski), George, Nick, Bill, Fred, Matt, Russel, and Victor.

Left to cherish Olga’s memory are her children, Peggy Yablonski and her daughter Katrina, Mark (Linda) and their children Zachary (Laura) and Azlynn (Josh Lefebvre), great-granddaughters Athenea and Crimsyn, and Grant (Joanne) and their children Alexandra and Matthew; brother Walter (Joan); sister Irene (Boyd Denny); sisters-in-law, Emily, Janet, Millie, Rita, and Elaine; well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Olga was born on January 20, 1932, and grew up on the family farm in Hard Rock, SK. On June 19, 1954, she married the love of her life Ed Yablonski. Ed and Olga farmed in Hubbard and were blessed with three wonderful children. In 1965, they moved to Regina where Olga worked as a waitress until her retirement in 1990. Her outgoing personality, quick wit and fun-loving nature made her very popular with her customers and coworkers. Olga enjoyed cribbage, watching and participating in curling, and cheering on the Riders. An excellent cook, everything she made was delicious because it was prepared with love. Ed and Olga spent many good years entertaining at their cottage on Echo Lake. They enjoyed travelling, visits with family and friends, and could often be found on the dance floor at one of many polka parties. Olga was a very special lady. She was a wonderful wife, mother and Baba, a fantastic hostess, a caring thoughtful friend and favourite Auntie. Olga had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved her family dearly and was very proud of them. A woman of strong faith, Olga was a long-time parishioner at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Pasqua Hospital 4B for their support and compassionate care during Olga’s final journey. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olga’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
