Leonard Meier

Obituary of Leonard Frank Meier

Leonard Meier, late of Regina, SK., passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022 at the age of 74 years.  He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marie (Mary), brother Moe, sister-in-law Pam (Moe), sister-in-law Lena (Al), brother-in-law Roy (Agnes), and niece Michele.  Len is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jean, brothers Al and Ray (Kay), sisters Agnes and Lorrie (Larry), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and members of his other family (Jean’s).

Len’s elementary and high school education was acquired in Moose Jaw, after leaving the Kerrobert area, where he was born.  He received both a B.A. Honours in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Saskatchewan.  Len worked in various positions with the Federal Government for 35 years.  He also taught part-time at the universities in Saskatoon and Regina.  After retirement, he operated his own consulting company for a few years.

Len also accomplished a major life goal by writing and publishing a novel “Crime Never Ends”, and was in the process of writing another novel.  He enjoyed being a member of Toastmasters and volunteering for his church and in the community.  His interests included music, reading, travelling, playing cards, golf, skiing, fishing, and Tai Chi.  He had a zest for life and for people, always a sense of humour and a good attitude, and strength and determination in dealing with MS.  Len was a special and wonderful husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, and mentor.  He will be missed.

As Len would say to all, “May you remember the good times we had together.”

Thank you to the staff at the General and Pasqua Hospitals, and to Dr. McMillan, for looking after Len with such care.

Donations in Len’s memory may be made to the MS Society.
