Obituary of Winona "Kay" Olson

Winona “Kay” Olson

Ms. Winona Kay Olson was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on November 28th, 1936.  She was known more affectionately as Kay.  Mom passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2022 at the age of 85, with family by her side.

Kay leaves her son Terry Kaszas (Renee), and daughter Sandra Kaszas, of Regina, SK to treasure her memories, as well as her two grandchildren, Darian Kaszas of Regina, and Riley Kaszas of Medicine Hat. Kay also leaves her dear sister Gail Thorimbert of Medicine Hat, nieces Debra (Mike), Cathy (Darrell), Janet (Darcy), and Cheryl (Kevin), nephew Brent and several great (great) nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Elmer Kaszas of Regina, her extended Olson family and numerous friends.

Kay was predeceased by her parents Howard and Evelyn Young, and her brother-in-law Lynn Thorimbert.

Kay grew up in Dundurn on the farm/ranch and did her schooling in MacDowell. Each summer Kay and Gail would return to their grandparent’s farm while her parents Howard and Evelyn went to university. Kay eventually moved to Regina to have her family and spent the rest of her years there.  She loved spending time in Medicine Hat with her sister Gail, nephews, nieces and all the fur babies.

Kay would check in with family daily to see what everyone was up to and to remind us when Curling and the Amazing Race were on, two things she was passionate about watching. Kay enjoyed going for tea daily with Bernice and her other good friends at the mall as well as shopping.

Mom loved her family and all the pets most of all. She couldn’t get enough of animals, she loved them as much as they loved her.

Kay will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

Private Family Interment will take place at a later date. Anyone wishing to donate in Kay’s honour may do so at any animal shelter of their choice.
