It is with broken hearts we share the passing of Andrea on the morning of March 31, 2022 after a brief illness. Andrea was born and raised in Regina and the youngest of four children. She attended St. Andrew elementary and Miller Comprehensive High School. Her genuine care for others and desire to make a difference led her to a career as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. She loved to dance and go out on the town with friends. In fact, Andrea met her husband Mick at Habano’s. They fell in love and were married in July 2001. Soon after, they welcomed two sweet boys, Ajay and Sammy. They went on to build a wonderful life in Langenburg, SK where she gained a whole town of new friends. Andrea’s deep compassion gave her the ability to lift people up from their lowest, and while she was always there to listen, she loved to talk, spending hours on the phone with her mom and sisters. Andrea had her own personal struggles, including being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2016. She shared her experiences in a book she wrote and published in 2018 – Alone in a Crowd. Andrea was not shy and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met, making many lifelong friends this way. Andrea and Mick enjoyed many vacations with friends and family to destinations including Mexico, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, Hawaii and New York City. Her greatest joy was watching her boys play many sports over the years. She loved being a hockey mom and enjoyed her Spitz on the bleachers at the ball games in the summer. She was so proud of the fine young men her boys have become. Andrea leaves to mourn her loving husband, Mick; her two boys, Ajay and Sammy; her parents, Brian and Gwen Gilbert; sisters Tammy (Darren) Holmes and Kim; brother Geoff (Shannon); nephew and nieces Jesse (Kelsie) Holmes, Rebecca (Thomas) Mark, Camryn and Eden Gilbert; four great nieces and nephews, Dez and Emilia Holmes, and Conor and Blake Mark; and many special beloved aunts, uncles cousins, and friends. Andrea was predeceased by her grandparents, Mick’s parents, Tarsem and Rajinder Parmar, and his brother, Sterling Parmar. A Private Prayer Service will be held for family and friends at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. A celebration of Andrea’s life will be held at Resurrection Parish, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK, on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. To view the livestream of the service please click on the link above.  Flowers gratefully declined.
