Obituary of Lloyd Elwood Wilson
Lloyd passed away after a relatively short battle with cancer, following a lifetime of health struggles that he faced with determination and fortitude. He was predeceased by his loving parents, father Norman and mother Bertha, and infant sister Carol. Lloyd is survived by numerous friends and family. He lived most of his final years at Renaissance Retirement Community, and described his time there as some of the happiest years of his life.
Lloyd was born and raised in the city of Regina, where he lived his entire life, with intermittent breaks for travel around the world.
A graduate of Martin Collegiate, Lloyd worked a number of years as a public servant for the government of Saskatchewan.
Lloyd was a lover of animals, with his cherished cats Sylvester and Chuckles holding a special place in his heart. He was a passionate lover of music, especially classical music, and of Canadian Art. And movies, too! He was a voracious reader, with a vast knowledge of Saskatchewan and Canadian history. One of his most joyful pursuits in recent years was to volunteer tutor new Canadians on Canadian history – sharing his love and extensive knowledge of our country. Lloyd Wilson was a proud Canadian.
Lloyd’s family and friends would like to offer our sincere thanks to the many healthcare providers and caregivers who helped Lloyd along the way. Special thanks as well to the staff and residents of the Renaissance, the 3D Unit at the Pasqua Hospital, and the staff at Speers Funeral Home – your loving care for Lloyd is much appreciated.
