Richard Hopkins

Obituary of Richard James Hopkins

Born in the U.K. in 1966, Richard passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022. All those who crossed his path in his chosen career in the hospitality industry will remember his smile and warmth.  Richard loved the outdoors whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, scuba diving or on his bike.  His adventurous spirit took him across the world from Alaska and the Yukon to Hawaii and around the world to India, Tibet and the long trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal.  His wit and sense of humour will be missed by his family in Canada, Wales and his countless friends over the years.  Richard came to Canada on his first adventure in 1968 as a small boy emigrating with his parents and brothers and settling in Regina.  He was very proud of his Welsh heritage “a proud Welshman” and leaves behind Nan, Philip and Bessie, and childhood cousins Hew and Bethan and families in the U.K.   His sudden passing with no time to say goodbye will be a shared sorrow of all those he leaves behind…especially his father Howard, brothers Martin and Stephen, special friends Debbie and Carrie, relatives in Wales and his countless friends over the years.  His warmth, ready laugh with a good joke and his adventurous spirit was taken from us all Too Soon…and he will be missed by those who knew him near and far…  Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina, SK on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
