Sonny was more than a friend. Sonny was my brother. We all tried to help Sonny, however Sonny stated multiple times that he wanted a strict more controlled environment as he felt he was out of control. Heart wrenching things went on both in Sonny’s life and environment in the past and what was his future before he passed. Sonny chose this path because he was let down by every single person who thought they were making a difference in his life and others. Sonny was mistreated by the Ministry of Social Services. Sonny is like the many youth in the system who get lied too, sooon fed ideologies that don’t relate or matter to him or anyone like him. All of the people from his life the group homes the foster care the social workers all of you should be ashamed of yourselves and all of you deserve the same fate Sonny went through! Rest in Peace to the number one most influential person that may have ever existed. With no one there to guide him Sonny fell. Love you Sonny and anyone in his situation look within all the answers you already know.

I first met Sonny when I started at SCP a few years ago and continued to support him on and off until a few months ago. There were some lows and highs but he always had his smarts and sense of humour to help him get through everything. He was one of the most charming people you could meet.
On many occasions, I saw Sonny lend guidance and leadership to those around him, no matter what age they were. Even when he had his own struggles he wanted to protect those he loved. A group of us from SCP went on a camping trip together in August of 2021. Sonny spent hours and hours by the campfire telling stories and sharing jokes and wisdom.
One thing I always respected about Sonny was his ability to be vulnerable every now and then, and open up to people about how he was feeling. Sonny had such a different perspective to share on every subject, which was very refreshing. He spoke endlessly of his future plans, whether it was to move to a farm and live off the land, or to build the world's tallest skyscraper.
I'm so sad to see you go, Sonny. Your beautiful mind and glowing presence are missed by many.

I've sat with my thoughts for days now, trying to come up with something to say. It's been over a week now and still, nothing feels right, but I'm writing this down anyway because I have something to say.
I miss you, Sonny, I miss you so much every day. You were one of the most resilient and caring souls I've ever known, and I hope you're no longer in pain.
I remember how contagious your smile was and how easily you could spend hours talking about any little thing. Your personality was one of the most outgoing & spirited I've ever seen. You never let who you were or where you'd been stop you from taking steps to becoming the person you wanted to be and I'll always admire that.
I'm sorry we couldn't change the world for you & that you didn't get the help you needed in time, but I want you to know how proud I am of everything you became in spite of it all & that I saw how hard you fought to be able to just be.
You won't be forgotten Kiddo, you'll live on in our memories.

Sonny was always a delight to have at the Shelter. Even when he was struggling, he was always quick to smile or lighten the mood with a joke. He was one of the most supportive people I ever have or will meet. When we last talked you had so many things lined up in your life and I'm sad you won't get to experience them. Your presence will be greatly missed.

I remember when I started working at Street Culture, Sonny was one of the youths I met. Sonny introduced himself to me in a very calm way and made a joke about being a new staff. Sonny was a respectful young man, always smiling, loved reading books and showing me funny TikTok videos.
It so sad, cause I saw you a few weeks ago and you had your wonderful smile on your face. It's okay Sonny, you can rest now. Sonny, you will be missed by everyone.

Sonny could light up a room without even try. Such a bright light for everyone he met. I strive to make people happy the way he did. I know Sonny is up there being the best thrasher magazine ambassador anyone has seen. Sonny's energy, jokes, language and knowledge will be truly missed.
Sonny's light will never leave our minds- he may be gone but his memory will last a lifetime.
Keep our skies "Sonny" for us.

Sonny's name was very appropriate as he lit up every room that he walked into like a ray of sunshine. He was mature beyond his age, yet his heart was so pure. All he ever wanted to do was help others. Whether that be in the present by helping out his friends and other youth by any means necessary or whether it was his dream to build a skate park for kids. His worldview was simply- help any way you can. I remember my first day working in Housing, I was left alone and not knowing what to do. Sonny helped me find things and made the day so much easier. That is who he was.
Sonny was Sonny. Nothing more. Nothing less. And that was more than enough.
Sonny was loved. Sonny will be missed. But more important Sonny will be remembered.
I hope you find all the peace and joy you are looking for.

I remember Sonny...
-Playing Green Day on his guitar & I wondered how he could fret the chords when his nails were so long
-Playing video games late at night & scaring the bejeebers out of me when he yelled at the game
-Laughing in the sunshine out front of the Shelter
-Smiling at me everytime we passed each other
-Making his favourite meal & saving me a plate for lunch the next day
-Talking about music for hours & playing his favourite songs for me while we "cleaned the kitchen". Well I laughed at some of the songs he played, he laughed at me doing his chore.
I remember Sonny.

Thinking of Sonny's friends & family.
Sonny was a ray of sunshine, I will never forget how he could light up a room with his smile and his laugh. He always had jokes ready to break up silence or tension in the room. I'll miss his humour & warmth.
Sonny also had an incredible mind- he was so smart and would chat about philosophy, politics, his many theories, anything. Time would pass so easily when in deep conversation with Sonny.
Sonny's passing has left a huge hole in the fabric of Street Culture, but his memory & legacy will remain in all of our hearts. I hope Sonny's spirit is at peace, and I'm sending peace & healing to Sonny's family and all of us who were lucky to have known and loved him.
Forever remembering your smile, Sonny.
