In Loving Memory -

Betty was the youngest of two children born to Hilda Silverlock and Donald Horncastle, both of whom emigrated to Canada before her birth. She was predeceased by her older brother Don and survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Betty and the love of her life of 46 years, Jack (John), enjoyed their family, travel, church and community activities which included hospital and nursing home visitations, cancer dressings, Freedom 55 Seniors group, Gyrettes, Order of Eastern star, Shrine and the affiliated Ladies Auxillary, as well as their church congregation.

Betty remained active in many of these activities after Jack's passing in 2010. She also  participated in her church home at First Presbyterian. Betty may have been the poster girl for Curves Fitness as she had earned many of their T-shirts for achieving different milestones and was known by one and all. Sadly many of Betty's activities were interrupted due to COVID-19 protocols. This was very challenging for a go-getter like Betty! However, she remained dedicated to her exercise and pedaling, chatting in person and on the phone, calling to check how other 'elders' were doing, stimulating her brain reading the newspaper and Readers Digest, watching the daily news, working on puzzles, etc.

Betty was always supportive and enjoyed time with her family including her in-law's family. As a grandma, she was delighted and proud of her two grandchildren and attended many of their recitals, competitions and graduations over the years of which there were many! Words used to describe Betty by those who knew and met her are: spirited, full of life, independent, on the ball, impeccable, neat and tidy, particular, organized, a woman of faith, spunky, caring, supportive, generous, chatty, plus many, many more! Connecting with others was important to her and became more challenging as she outlived many of her friends and companions. Betty lived her spiritual values of being caring, friendly, and 'doing unto others' for the duration of her life.

Betty and her family wish to express deep gratitude to all the Earth Angels overseeing Betty's care at Pasqua Hospital's Palliative Care ward and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice. And thank you to Penny and the College Park 1 staff for your support this past year. To all of you - your skill, care, advocacy and respect assisted Betty to experience quality in both her living and dying.

Betty's Celebration of Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a light lunch. A private interment will follow for the immediate family. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada or the Regina Humane Society.
