Keith Fortowsky), Patrick (Pavla), Catherine and Shawn (Carla Krogan); her seven grandchildren, Bridget Fortowsky (Ryan Tessier), Sarah Fortowsky (Jihong Kim), John Fortowsky, Charles, Sean, Seamus and Synnove McGrath; six great-grandchildren, Felix, Simon, Gabriel, Raphael, Mina and Anna; sisters-in-law Madeleine McCurry and Mary McGrath; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband Roy (1987); her parents; and her siblings John, Charles, Mary Catherine, Lawrence (Larry), Edward, George and Joseph (Joe).
Patricia (Pat) was born on November 18, 1929 near Crichton, SK. and grew up on a farm near Aylesbury, SK. She was the youngest of the eight children born to John Francis and Sarah Christine Flynn. Despite the hardships of the depression, she grew up with much love and a strong sense of adventure.
Pat graduated from Zion Academy in Saskatoon and attended Normal School and later the University of Saskatchewan where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Over her career she taught at most grade levels and ended her career as a teacher librarian with Regina Catholic Schools. Her greatest adventure was teaching from 1956 - 58 with the Canadian Forces in Germany. During that time Pat travelled extensively throughout Europe, Egypt and the Holy Lands.
In 1960 she married Roy Francis McGrath and they settled on the farm in Ceylon, Sk. With four young children, they received the devastating news that Roy had Lupus. Despite this, their priority remained providing a loving and safe home for their children. Pat returned to the University of Regina to complete her Bachelor of Education and resumed her career as an educator.
The family moved to Regina in 1977. In retirement she enjoyed time with family, gardening, supporting newcomers, travel, bowling, sewing and listening to the music provided by her children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Early Learning Centre (www.earlylearning.ca). Funeral Service will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral Church, 2104 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Archbishop Emeritus Weisgerber presiding.
