Farewell, Ena. My condolences to the family. Ena and John were two very special people to me. John was the one who hired me into my career at SaskTel. Ena contributed so much to the community, especially through the Telephone Pioneers. Besides her dedication to IHAP, her love of the symphony, and her contributions to a whole host of other programs, my best memories of Ena are her working with me in my Hug-a-Bear and Reading Buddies Pioneer projects. However, I couldn’t get her to join our clown troupe! She made countless stuffed bears to help calm traumatized children. The kids at the Sacred Heart Reading Buddies program loved to have her help them read. Their reading level skills increased through the dedication of people such as Ena. The children’s faces lit up when she walked into the school. They knew they were getting one of the best. She was a hard worker, faithful to the programs, and so nice to get along with. Although very gentle and soft spoken, she was firm and no-nonsense when she had to be. Loyalty, friendship, commitment and service. All Pioneer values. And all Ena values. Thanks, Ena, for being here with us. Now go with God.
